  1. Problem Definition

During the course of this program a lot has changed since the first 5 day face to face phase. Team has been underachieving and is not as gelled as initially anticipated. A second Tuckman assessment is being done to redefine the leadership style suitable for us if required. The same questionnaire was used by the team to answer the same 32 questions and to help rank what stage we think the team is currently on. This time both the Mode and the Median were taken into consideration for the calculation of the P(90).

  1. Problem Recognition

Currently the produced water from skim tank at A station is pumped to evaporation ponds using water disposal pump. Off late the water cut of wells have increased that resulted in more water being pumped to evaporation ponds and eventually flooding of ponds. There is an urgent need to address this problem on a long term basis.

Produced water treatment facilities and Water injection (WI) facilities are available at B station. The company is planning to transport produced water from A to B station through 8.5 Km pipeline.

  1. Problem definition.

In the previous blog posting an analysis on the learning curve over the blog posting was conducted. The main target of the post was to forecast the production time for each blog posting during the upcoming weeks of the program. This will then be used to re-baseline the blog posting project. However, before initiating this process the data of the blog posting should be first validated and analyzed. (SPC) Statistical Process Control method will be used to analyze the data in order to determine any variation in the process and consequently control it or perhaps even optimize it.

Therefore the topic of this blog will be analyzing statistically the process of blog posting using SPC methods and explore manners of improvements.

In my previous blog I have showed how to prioritize work orders biased on risk matrix. In this blog expected monitoring value is used to solve the same problem. According to business dictionary EMV is “Total of the weighted outcomes (payoffs) associated with a decision, the weights reflecting the probabilities of the alternative events that produce the possible payoff. It is expressed mathematically as the product of an event’s probability of occurrence and the gain or loss that will result” [4].

1. Problem Recognition
Board of directors of LPG plant wants to increase plant production. The engineering consultant gave two options: buy additional machines and production will increase by 60% with cost 20M$ US dollars or upgrade the old machines to increase the production by 30% with cost of 7M$ US dollars. Expected monetary value will be used to decide which option to be considered. Taking in consideration the risk of market demand for LPG.

The IT department tasks have been increased majorly in the last years with slight increasing in the number of employees. With this situation the IT employees’ responsibilities assignment were random creating un-clear tasks and overlapping in day to day tasks.

IT manager has decided to use business process diagram responsibility (RASCI-BPMN) by mixing together RACSI with BPMN. In the previous post, W5, RACI matrix was used.
